Questions
Flat fees, online closings and what we cover
Answers to what people ask before they send us a contract.
Fees
How do you set a flat fee?
By the kind of matter, for one property and one transaction. If your file needs more, you get a second flat quote before any extra work.
When do I pay?
After you sign the engagement letter, through the client portal, by card or bank transfer.
What isn't in the fee?
Costs other people charge: title insurance, recording fees, lender charges, agent commissions and court costs. The fees page says which apply to each kind of matter.
Working online
Do I ever have to come to the office?
No. Calls are on video or by phone, and documents come through a secure upload link. You can visit South Jefferson Avenue by appointment if you'd like to.
How do I sign the closing papers?
At the title company handling your closing, or by remote online notarization where your lender and title company allow it.
Is the upload link safe for my documents?
It's encrypted and only your lawyer can open what you send. Please don't email contracts or account numbers.
Our work
Do I need a lawyer if I have an agent?
You don't have to have one. An agent finds the home and negotiates the price; a lawyer reads the contract and title for legal problems, and works only for you.
Which properties do you handle?
Single homes, duplexes and small rentals, in the states where our lawyers are admitted. The team page lists each lawyer's admissions.
Do you handle HOA disputes?
We read HOA documents as part of a purchase. For a dispute with an association, tell us what's happening and we'll say whether we can help and what it would cost.
Still wondering about your file?
Send us the basics and we'll answer with a fee and a name.
